A 24-year-old Pahoa man was charged Wednesday with second-degree theft, unauthorized control of a stolen vehicle and second-degree criminal property damage.

A 24-year-old Pahoa man was charged Wednesday with second-degree theft, unauthorized control of a stolen vehicle and second-degree criminal property damage.

Makua Amuituanai is scheduled to make his initial court appearance today. He’s being detained in the Hilo police cellblock in lieu of $30,000 bail.

Sunday evening at 10:32 p.m., officers responded to a damaged gate at a business in the 15-1900 block on 33rd Avenue in Hawaiian Paradise Park. Employees reported a white Ford F-250 truck was taken from the property.

On Monday afternoon, employees of the business found the stolen truck on Beach Road in HPP and detained Amuituanai until police arrived.
